39 of the 57 Covid-19 deaths due to “Comorbidity’: WB Government

Since the time the central government has asked to the state chief secretary for case records, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 has grown up three times. A panel was formed earlier this month to evaluate the fatalities caused by the corona pandemic by hospitals in the state.

State government said on Friday that 57 COVID-19 patients had died, but later clarified that 39 of these had succumbed to “comorbid conditions”. Coronavirus infection, it added, was ruled “incidental” in their death.

This information was received after the inter-ministerial central team (IMCT) wrote to WB Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha, in which an answer was sought on th formation and functioning of the expert committee.
