Quota for Covid Warriors’ Children in MBBS/BDS

Corona Warriors

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced a new category in the guidelines for selection and nomination of candidates for MBBS / BDS seats under the Central Pool for the academic year 2020-21. The category is named ‘Wards of Covid Warriors’. Candidates whose parents died during the treatment of Corona patients will be selected through this category on seats falling under the central pool.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, ‘It will honor the sacrifice of all those Corona Warriors who selflessly served patients. Seats will be reserved under the Central Pool for the children of Corona Warriors who lost their lives due to Kovid-19.

The Minister of Health said that the move is intended to honor the great contribution made by Corona Warriors in the treatment and management of patients. Five Central Pool MBBS seats have been reserved under this category for the year 2020-21.

Harsh Vardhan said, ‘Corona from 90 to 99 percent can be avoided by just taking precautions. You can protect yourself by taking small precautions from this deadly virus, such as wearing a good quality mask, maintaining social distance and taking care of hand hygiene. ‘
