New Delhi| Ever since the time of declaration of the nation wide lockdown in the country, there had been incidences of migrant people walking out to home barefoot who have been manhandled and punished by Police. The news of severe punishments from Police officials have been appearing in the headlines from across different parts of the country.
The incidents include a man beaten to death in UP’s Ambedkar Nagar district to a tribal person beaten to death in Madhya Pradesh who were accused of breaking the lockdown.
There had also been reports coming that migrant workers travelling from Ambala in Haryana to Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh alleged that the Delhi Police officials beat them up when they took a break in the national capital to eat food.
Moved by all such incidents, Congress General Secretary and Uttar Pradesh Incharge Priyanka Gandhi has made a request to the police force across the country.
In a series of tweets she has raised the concern over the migrant workers walking hungry along with their family who have been deprived of all the facilities. She raised her concern over the dying labours of UP while the roadway buses are stranded at depots. She requested to run these buses in order to bring back the migrant workers.
She has also requested all the Congress workers to work with full energy for the help of these migrant workers.
In her message to the police, she has mentioned that she understands the pressure through which the police force of the country is undergoing under such circumstances but requested them not to use force against the migrant workers.
The movement of migrant workers to their destination is being considered by international commentators as the biggest human migration ever in the history of mankind where people are walking hundreds of miles towards their home with luggage on their heads
