In Karnataka, the Congress on Friday said that it has prepared a plan of 100 crore rupees to buy vaccines directly from the manufacturers. The party’s state unit president DK Shivakumar said that Rs 10 crore would come from the Congress and the remaining 90 crore could come from his MLA / MLC fund.
Sivakumar said in a statement, “I appeal to the Yeddyurappa government to please allow us to use MLA / MLC funds to buy vaccines directly in a transparent manner as the Modi and Yeddyurappa governments have been failing to do so for months. . “
He said, “The central and state governments have failed to collectively vaccinate the public, we want to do it ourselves. All we need is two small permits. One from the center and the other from the state government. My appeal to the BJP is not to let politics come in and allow the Congress to buy vaccines directly and apply it to the people with the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. ”
However, there is little clarity on how the party proposes to purchase vaccines as the entire country is currently facing a vaccine shortage.
