New Delhi| While the doctors of the country, are struggling with huge shortage of protective gears in the country and have been quarantined as few of them have tested positive while treating the patients, Indian government has sent a Boeing 747 cargo with protective equipments to Serbia, to help them in their fight against the corona virus.

In a tweet from the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) official handle, it was informed that this was the second cargo purchased by the Serbian government and is fully funded by EU. While the health ministry denied about any such information, the tweet claims that 90 tons of protective material has been received from India.

As per the sources, St Mary’s Rubbers (P) Ltd., Kanjirapilly, was the exporter. During the current lockdown situation, Cochin Customs facilitated the clearance and the consignment was made ready for the flight by the cargo department of CIAL on a war footing.

The point to be noted is, India is facing a corona virus breakout, with more than 1100 people tested positive and the doctors and medical support staff has been constantly asking the government for the supply of the protective equipments.

The 90-ton consignment included 50 tons of surgical glove and 35 lakh pairs of sterline surgical gloves.

While 100 doctors have been quarantined in the country, as few tested positive and might have caught virus while treating the patients, ambulance association of UP has called for a strike due to non availability of safety equipments.
