Chandrayaan 2 Launch : PM Narendra Modi lavishes praise on ISRO, highlights prowess of scientists

Date:

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched its second moon mission Chandrayaan-2 on Monday at 2:43 PM. The mission seeks to explore the unchartered Lunar south pole by landing a rover and will be launched onboard GSLV-Mk0III-M1 from Sriharikota. The Rs 978 crore mission will be launched from the second launchpad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, over 100km from Chennai.

It may be recalled that ISRO had aborted the launch of Chandrayaan-2 on July 15 (Sunday) due to a technical snag which was spotted just 56 minutes before the planned launch of the ambitious mission. The 20-hour countdown for the launch began at 6.43pm on Sunday.

President Ram Nath Kovind salutes the hard work of ISRO scientists.

Just the start? PM Modi sure of Chandrayaan 2 paving the way for even more successful missions into space in the future.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulates ISRO for successfully launching Chandrayaan 2.

“Special moments that will be etched in the annals of our glorious history! The launch of #Chandrayaan2 illustrates the prowess of our scientists and the determination of 130 crore Indians to scale new frontiers of science. Every Indian is immensely proud today!,” he tweeted.
