India’s high commissioner to Canada Ajay Bisaria said India and Canada are working together at multiple levels in pandemic times. Prime Ministers of both nations have been part of the global dialogue at G20. Foreign & Commerce ministers of both countries have also been in touch improve the effectiveness of trade exchanges between both the countries. The supply chains from India remain unbroken and trustworthy. For instance, India has just cleared a shipment of 5 million tablets of hydroxychloroquine to Canada.
Ajay Bisaria said that we’re exchanging knowledge on many policy responses. We have shared with Canada the ‘Bhilwara model’ of containing the corona pandemic. We are in turn analyzing the Canada model of designing regulations for re-engineering automobile production lines for health manufacture. I have recently discussed such issues with Canadian Ministers for Innovation Mr Navdep Bains.
India has facilitated multiple evacuation flights to send Canadian citizens home. I have begun teleconferencing with business leaders of Canada. We are also looking at business level responses to the current crisis and we are preparing our business for the new normal of post-pandemic. In short, we have responded the way strategic partners should in a crisis. By remaining in close touch, by helping out wherever possible and by planning ahead for the future.
