Prime Minister Modi has also apologized to the public for the lockdown today in his address to the nation, during his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’. He expressed that due to the seriousness of the virus and the tragedies that have happened in the developed countries, he was bound to take such a tough decision.  Nevertheless, the Prime Minister expressed condolences to the people of the country for their problems.

PM Modi said, ‘After seeing the situation of the world, it seems that this is the only way left to keep your family safe. Many people will be angry with me as to how they have kept everyone locked in the house. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

Talking about the lockdown, he expressed that he is moved by the heart melting pictures coming out from all over the country. People working on daily wages in cities are migrating to villages. Regardless of the distance even thousands of kilometers, people have left on foot with young children and the elderly. In current situation, such stories are continuously coming out in the media which are very sensitive.

A large number of people were seen in Anand Vihar and Dhaula Kuan bus stands of Delhi, since Saturday. Other states including Uttar Pradesh have arranged some buses so that people can be transported to their villages. However, the danger is that the infection may spread more due to congestion. State governments are constantly explaining to the people that they should stay where they are because arrangements will be made for food and living of the people.

Modi said, ‘The infection and its outbreak should be tackled in the beginning, otherwise the disease become incurable and the treatment becomes difficult. Today, the whole country, every Indian is fighting to get saved from this infection.
