Army Ready for Prolonged Deployment on LAC

Date:

A team of top military officials informed the parliamentary committee that the army is ready for a prolonged deployment on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Preparations are also being made for deployment in severe winter. A team of top military officers led by Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat apprised the Parliamentary Committee of the LAC situation.

According to sources, General Rawat told the committee that talks with China may take time to normalize the situation on LAC. It may take longer for both sides to repel troops. However, the army is ready for any situation. In eastern Ladakh, both the armies are face to face in at least five areas.

Parliamentary committee was informed that China has infiltrated LAC in eastern Ladakh in many places. Before May, China has done this activity on the pretext of military exercises in Tibet area. In addition, the Chinese Army has also prepared heavy equipment with about 40,000 troops.

In response, the Indian Army has also fully deployed in every sector. All arrangements are being made for effective deployment of the army even in the unbearable cold which starts next month.

Efforts Being Made to Restore Trust

The military has said that efforts are being made to restore the lack of trust that has developed with China in the last few months. Apart from diplomatic and special representative level talks, five rounds of core commander level talks have been held. However, it has not yielded any concrete result so far. The army said that China is talking irrational on many issues, which cannot be considered.
