Being Single in India for women

Date:

Being single at different age points feels totally different. It’s very age specific when you say you are single specially if you are a girl.

The way people of the so-called society look at girls/ladies who are singles is so absurd and weird as if they are doing some crime if they exist or rather I would say they don’t deserve to live.

If you don’t get married, like around the age of 24-25, people have a problem as to why you are not getting married.
They start shooting up questions like –
“Are you interested in the same sex?”
“Do you have any physical problem in your body due to which you are avoiding?”
“Didn’t you get anyone for yourself?”
“Do you have a boyfriend” etc etc.

Society can’t see us single which is a big problem in our country. Our freedom isn’t understood by them. Only what they can think about us is getting married.

And if you get divorced maybe around early 30’s people are like
“Oh my God, what will happen?”
“You should definitely get remarried as soon as possible, you can’t live alone like this forever”
Some people do cross the thin line too and start judging us as we were the Villian in our marriage and few even start questioning our character. I feel getting divorced is far more better than being in a toxic marriage.

The concept of considering that something is missing if we are single is so unfair. If we want to be single then it’s completely our choice and should be given respect.
Why a women should have a man in his life??
Why can’t she be the man herself if she is ok or capable of doing that?
Why being single is considered some type of crime? If she is happy with her life and choices then why it makes other people unhappy?

Marriage is definitely an important part of our life but it’s just a part, not our life. We have the right if we want to make it a part or not. It shouldn’t be a pile on over us just to please the society.

The best part of being single is the freedom to take charge of our life. That feeling is priceless. Be it the color of curtains or the color of paint on the walls or travel goals or anything else, we get the freedom of decision making of all the smallest-biggest things related to us. Making peace with being single and embracing it is very much important. We shouldn’t bother what others have to say about it. We can’t please everyone, we are not a Nutella jar.

Being single is not any kind of horrible place to be. So let’s just live our life our way.
