An Ugly Reality: Disrespect Towards Artists in Tollywood

Bengal Film Industry (Tollywood) has again witnessed an incident of utter disrespect for our esteemed artists who leave no stone unturned and sincerely try to entertain people and uphold the quality of Tollywood. It is but obvious that in return we should exhibit utmost respect and gratitude towards our artists and treat them as our very own family members.

I was flipping through the pages, and I came across yesterday about the unwelcoming behaviour that was received by Miss Rooqma Ray in Khanakul, an eminent name in Bengali daily soaps. She went to perform at a program at Khanakul where she received unprofessional and rebellious behaviour from a few persons on the Organizing Committee which is very unfortunate and pain-striking.

I came to know Miss Rooqma Ray (unofficially), more from her social work apart from her designation as an eminent artist as she did a remarkable job which I personally feel during Covid time through “Someone to Someone”, to the extent I can recollect as it matters to me more being in public life with the motto of service to mankind.

Time and again it has been brought to concern that our industry needs revival and the first step is through safeguarding the interest and welfare of our artists without which it will seem like a fish out of water. I express my sincere thanks to the organizations who stood by the side of Miss Rooqma Ray to solve the issue diligently and I am sure it will stand by the side of the artist fraternity whenever such issues crops up.
I express my sincere concern about such an incident and register my moral protest and expect such things will not occur and will be dealt with diligently for the better future of our Tollywood.

The opinions expressed are my personal.
